    Today marks the 55th anniversary of the assassination of civil rights leader, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. in the United States of amerika. In remembrance of King’s death, community leaders, politicians and clergymen will join together for a peace walk and a first view of the statue, which was unveiled at the weekend and dedicated to the late civil rights leader commemorating a speech he gave prior to his assassination.

    The statue was designed by artist Kathy Fincher, who co-sculptured it with Stan Mullins, and it was inspired directly by King’s last speech, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop.”
