Suspect in fatal DUI an ex-‘American Idol’ contestant
STOCKTON — A tow truck operator was killed early Christmas morning after being hit by a suspected drunken driver who authorities have identified as Stockton musician Kylle Thomasson.
The California Highway Patrol arrested 25-year-old Thomasson on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence after the crash, according to a report.
Authorities allege that about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Thomasson was northbound on Interstate 5, north of Mathews Road, in a 2001 GMC when he lost control and veered toward the shoulder of the road. Thomasson’s GMC crashed into the tow truck operator and the tow truck before overturning back onto traffic and colliding with two other vehicles, according to the report.

At approximately 2:00 am on Christmas Day, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a collision on I-5 (north of Matthews Road) involving Thomasson and a “Bob’s Tow” flatbed truck that was on the shoulder preparing to tow a vehicle from an unrelated collision. The operator of the tow truck, Juan Morga, 48, who was on the side of the flatbed operating the towing functions was struck and killed. No other injuries were reported.
