Biography and career[]
Deborah Van Valkenburgh was born in Schenectady, New York. She graduated from Shaker High School in Latham, New York in June 1970. After that, Van Valkenburgh graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, with a Bachelor's degree in Painting & Drawing. As a teen in New York, she performed in coffee houses with the folk band Spur of the Moment, and during college she sang in a duo popularly known as The Myrtle Avenue Watermelon.
Van Valkenburgh started acting in theater, and debuted on Broadway in the revival of the musical Hair. After that, she became known for playing Mercy in Walter Hill's cult classic film The Warriors, in 1979. Van Valkenburgh has also appeared
